For Associates: Intercessions

Intercessions for Easter 2017

We pray to our Father, as we emerge from the darkness of Lent and Holy Week:

Our journey through Lent was a time for reflection, a time for coming to terms with our past and a time for forgiveness.  We pray that we have the courage to go forward in newness of mind and spirit.

We pray for peace in our troubled world; for people affected by pain and suffering through war, famine and despotic regimes, bringing to mind Syria, Yemen, South Sudan and Somalia – we pray that refugees be shown a friendly welcome in their new country with the compassion they need to establish a new life. We also pray that all facing difficulties may feel your presence and find the courage to face the obstacles in their life.

Lord hear us

Lord graciously hear us.

Simon and Veronica were two people who took pity on your Son as he carried his cross – we ask that we too may be aware of those around us who are in need, for Gail, Erik and Heleena (see jottings), the sick, the lonely and the unloved and that we may offer help where we are able.  We pray for the cross we bear in life, for healing and we offer thanks for the people who have been there for us.

During the Passion of our Lord, we hear how Jesus died a painful death on the cross. We pray for those who have died – Howard, Brenda Smith, Joan Auger and Edwina Amies (see jottings for more details).  For those near to the end of their lives, we pray for a peaceful and comfortable release as they pass into your care.  Give strength to those who are mourning and may your light guide them through their despair and brokenness.

Easter brings the dawning of a new day and we pray for mutual support and love between the Sisters and Associates all over the world, particularly for Jenny and Sheila – our two new Associates in South Africa.  We pray for the formation of local Associate groups and also for our retreats – bringing to mind those who are unable to attend through distance and ill-health.

Lord graciously hear us

With love and blessings at this Eastertide from the Sisters and your Steering Committee.
